Jack Kelley Jr.

1953-2003

Jack Woodrow Kelley Jr., 50, of 3326 Whitewood St., North Canton, Ohio, formerly of Ashland, died Wednesday, June 4, in Aultman Hospital in Canton after an extended illness.

Mr. Kelley was born Jan. 20, 1953, in Ashland, a son of the late Jack Woodrow Kelley Sr. and Midge Fosson Kelley Reynolds and her husband Cy Reynolds of Ashland.

He was a sales representative for the Wholesale Marketing department at Marathon-Ashland, former volunteer firefighter for Westwood Volunteer Fire Department, a graduate of Fairview High School, Class of 1971, graduate of Morehead State University, Executive Board of Alcovy District, N.E. Georgia Council of Boy Scouts; former member of Westwood Enterprise Baptist Church, former deacon of First Baptist Church of Mason, Ohio, current member of First Christian Church of Canton, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife, Violet Smith Kelley; twin sons, Matthew S. Kelley and Cadet Patrick J. Kelley, USAR; one brother, Stephen R. Kelley of Ashland; two sisters, Susan Kelley (Richard) Gross of Commerce Township, Mich., and Sandy Kelley (Roger) Lemaster of Ashland; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 8, at the Westwood Enterprise Baptist Church by the Rev. Dan LeRoy. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland.

Friends may make contributions to the American Cancer Society.

I am very saddened for our loss in hearing this news. I will always remember Jack as a kind, gentle and caring Christian. I'm sure these traits followed with him as a husband and father. I'm proud to say that he was a friend of mine. My most sincere condolences.

I was so sorry to hear about Jack. I was not able to attend our reunion this year to be able to see him and talk about old times. Jack was a wonderful and caring person and will be greatly missed. God speed and be with you all.
