Ellen Kaufman
1923-2003
Ellen Garnett Kaufman, 79, of Ashland, died Saturday, June 14, 2003, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, following a sudden illness.
Mrs. Kaufman was born Dec. 23, 1923, in Faytte County, W.Va., a daughter of the late David Ellis and Thelma Irvin Moter. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Milton Kaufman, and a brother, Andrew Moter.
A homemaker, she was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons. She was a gardener and welded torpedoes during World War II.
She is survived by a son, Steven R. (Connie) Kaufman of Phillippi, W.Va.; a daughter, Sondra (Mark) Cremer of Parkersburg, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Michael Cremer, Sherry Ochs, Steven P. Kaufman, Cynthia Black and David Kaufman; nine great-grandchildren; and a very special friend, Ronald Clark of Ashland.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2003, at the Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by Dr. Tim York. Burial will be in Bridgeport Cemetery.
