Emzah Hickman

1928-2003

Emzah C. Hickman II, 75, of Ashland, died Friday, June 13, in Ashland.

Mr. Hickman was born May 2, 1928, in Ashland, a son of the late Emzah C. and Cora Salyers Hickman.

He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Amelia C. Perkins Hickman, and his second wife, Barbara Barker Hickman; and a daughter, Janet Lotus Ann Eschenberg.

A member of Christ Temple Church in Ashland, he was a retired steelworker with McLouth Steel Corporation. He was also a member of the Army and National Guard in Ashland.

He is survived by a son, Emzah C. Hickman III of Griffith, Ga.; three daughters, Barbara Sue Buchanan of Canton, Mich., Diana Lynn Hickman Adkins of Summerfield, N.C., and Patricia Jean Bynum of Rockingham County, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Kandy Lynn Bishop of Troy, Maine, and Barbara Ann Barker of Ashland; three sisters, Elva Proffit of Atlanta, Ga., Beatrice Grizzle of Ashland and Violet Lyons of Lorraine, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Christ Temple Church by the Suffragan Bishop Elzy Thomas. Burial will be in Oldfield Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Steen Funeral Home-Ashland ChapelThe body will lie in state at the church from noon to 1 p.m. Monday.

Friends may make contributions to the Oldfield Cemetery in memory of Emzah Hickman, payable to First and Peoples Bank and Trust, 400 Ferry St., Russell, Ky. 41169.
