Helen Readmond

1913-2003

Helen Gee Readmond, 89, of Ashland, Ky., went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 30, 2003, at her residence following an extended illness.

She was born Sept. 9, 1913, in Olive Hill, Ky., a daughter of the late William Harrison and Ora Gee Craycraft.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard V. Readmond, in 1993; and two brothers, William A. Craycraft and Clayton B. Craycraft.

She was former owner of Readmond Printing in Ashland.

She was a very active member of the Centenary United Methodist Church for many, many years, teaching Sunday school and serving as leader of the Methodist Youth Group.

She was a wonderful friend and neighbor to all and opened her home to the local youth, holding Bible study classes for literally generations of children.

Her survivors include four nephews, William A. Craycraft and his wife, Bonnie, of Melbourne, Fla., Robert M. Craycraft and his wife, Cathy, of Ashland, Warren A. Craycraft of Mount Dora, Fla., and J.P. Readmond of Indiana; five nieces, Honey Webb and her husband, Larry, of Ashland, Jane Lappin and her husband, Bard, of Eustis, Fla., Rebecca Brown and her husband, Richard, of Catlettsburg, Ky., Elizabeth Craycraft of Tavares, Fla., and Judy Cooper and her husband, Steve, of Muncie, Ind.; a brother, Robert A. Craycraft and his wife, Janet, of Catlettsburg; a brother-in-law, John Readmond and his wife, Doris, of Muncie; great-nieces and nephews;; and great-great-nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2003, at Steen Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel by the Rev. Wayne Watts. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight, July 2, 2003, at the funeral home.
