Gayle Layne
1932-2003
Gayle Carr Layne, 70, of Raceland, Ky., died Sunday, July 13, 2003, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Ashland, Ky.
She was born Nov. 19, 1932, in Covington, Ky., a daughter of the late Layton and Flo Hilton Carr.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas Nelson Layne.
A homemaker, she was a member of Raceland Christian Church, Ladies Auxiliary of VFW and SOAR (Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees Local 01865), and was a charter member of Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Surviving are her husband, Thomas Layne; two sons, Michael Swartzwelder of Deer Park, Texas, and Randel Swartzwelder of Ironton, Ohio; three daughters, Nina Williams of Destin, Fla., Donna Hatfield of Ashland, and Melinda Kanouse of Rio Grande, Ohio; a sister, Paige Shipley of St. Charles, Mo.; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at noon Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Jim Matthews. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
