Pony Walter Lykins Sr.
1908-2003
Pony Walter Lykins Sr., 94, of Ashland, Ky., died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, in Oakmont Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Sept. 23, 1908, in Magoffin County, Ky., a son of the late Ollie and Geneva Osborne Lykins.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Eula Fay Sansing Lykins in 1986; four brothers, Bernie Lykins, Wheeler Lykins, Gardener Lykins and Ted Lykins; and a sister, Gladys Cisco.
A retired Armco Steel employee and farmer, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Ashland, Poage Masonic Lodge No. 325 and Road Runner Travel Club of Greenup, Ky.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Pony Walter Jr. and Joann Conley Lykins of Russell, Ky.; two sisters, Ruthie Mae Tullis of Tucson, Ariz., and Beatrice Long of Morehead, Ky.; a grandson, Dr. Walter Scott and his wife, Tara Lynn Pauley Lykins of Paducah, Ky.; and a great-grandson, Garrett Walker Lykins of Paducah.
The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, at Steen Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel by the Rev. Edwin Talley. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003, at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 7 by Poage Lodge No. 325.
