Shelvie Ray Wheeler
1928-2003
Shelvie Ray Wheeler, 75, of Ashland, Ky., died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003, in King's Daughters Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 6, 1928, in Mammoth, W.Va., a son of the late Corbitt and Oma Smith Wheeler.
He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Sharon Kay Wheeler and Dinah Rae Wheeler; a brother, Ronald Wheeler; and a sister, Katherine Brown.
He was retired from Allied Signal, was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church and Ironworkers Local No. 769, and was a graduate of Man High School in West Virginia.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn "Bill" Houck Wheeler of Ashland, and a sister, Ruth Lester Browning of Hunt, W.Va.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, at Rose Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Charles Stewart and the Rev. Jim Yates. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, at Steen Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel and one hour before the service at the church.
