Ethel Mae Allen Points

1914-2003

Ethel Mae Allen Points, 88, of Frankfort, Ky., formerly of Ashland, Ky., died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003, at her residence.

Mrs. Points was born Sept. 19, 1914, in Jackson, Ky., a daughter of the late Green R. and Elizabeth E. Cope Allen.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Edmund M. Points; two brothers, Robert Allen and Thomas Allen; and a sister, Hildred Allen Huber.

She was a long time employee of Layne's Pharmacy, which was owned by her husband, and Parsons Department Store.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Ashland, was a former member of Bellefonte Country Club and was an avid golfer and bridge player.

She enjoyed sports and being with her great-grandchildren and friends at Ashwood Place Retirement Home in Frankfort.

Survivors include a son, Robert A. and Jane Points of Scottsboro, Ala., and Bahrain; a daughter, Elizabeth Points and Paul R. McNees of Frankfort; five grandchildren, Robert P. Warman, William E. Warman and Lisa E. Friedly, all of Frankfort, Julie Stilgenbauer of Ashland and Carrie (Dale) McClendon of Scottsboro; a stepgrandson, Steven R. McNees of Frankfort; seven great-grandchildren; and two nieces and two nephews.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003, at Steen Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel by the Rev. Dale E. Carden. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003, at the funeral home.
