Eddie Spears
1928-2003
Edgar "Eddie" Spears, 75, of Ashland, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003, at his home.
Mr. Spears was born June 5, 1928, in Pikeville, Ky., a son of the late Harley and Laura Akers Spears.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Dickerson Spears.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served in World War II and the Korean War. He was former owner and operator of Modern Motors.
Additional survivors include two sons, Tim Spears and Rick (Melody) Spears, both of Ashland; a daughter, Patty (Brian) Nolen of Ashland; a brother, Jack Spears of Ashland; a sister, Dorothy Hall of Portsmouth, Ohio; and five grandchildren, Ashley Nolen, Michael Nolen, Kelly Spears, Ricky Spears Jr. and Mary Beth Spears.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. J.W. Holcomb. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park at Ashland.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
