Willard Mason
1923-2003
Willard C. Mason, 80, of Ashland, Ky., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003.
He was born April 4, 1923, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to the late Cecil and Elizabeth Watson Mason.
He was a lifelong member of Pollard Baptist Church, an Army veteran of World War II and retired from Ashland Oil Inc. after 38 years of service.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Wendall and Tom Mason.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jewell L. Mason; a son, Randy (Leslye) Mason of Ashland; a granddaughter, Erica Mason of Covington; a brother, Mark (Ruby) Mason of Frisco, Texas; two sisters, Audrey (Joe) Swetnam of Ashville, Ohio, and Mary (Dennis) Phillips of Plain City, Ohio; and numerous relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Frame, Brad Heckler, Bruce Hixon, Jim Hutchinson, Brian Pulley and David Stultz. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Donta Dempsey of Tennessee and the Bruce Cooper Sunday school class of Pollard Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Tom Swartzwelder.
The final resting place will be Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Pollard Baptist Church, 444 Blackburn Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
