Karl Oppenheimer Jr.

1925-2003

Karl Oppenheimer Jr., 78, of Ashland, Ky., died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003, in Kingsbrook Lifecare Center.

Mr. Oppenheimer was born Aug. 21, 1925, in Prestonsburg, Ky., a son of the late Karl and Minnie Tomlin Oppenheimer.

He was also preceded in death by a special niece, Arnita Stephens; his sisters, Ruth Worland, Ruby Clark, and Delphia Keeton; as well as several other brothers and sisters.

He was a retired field representative for Kentucky Revenue Cabinet, was a World War II and Korean War veteran, was a member of First United Methodist Church in Prestonsburg and American Legion Post No. 76, and was an avid UK and Cubs fan.

Surviving are his wife, Delores Owens Oppenheimer of Ashland; three sons, Charles Oppenheimer and Richard (Paula) Oppenheimer, both of Ashland, and Steven B. Oppenheimer of Aiken, S.C.; a daughter, Karla (Lee) Collier of Ashland; special nieces, Barbara Ann Burchett and Phyllis Ranier; a special nephew, Edward Worland Jr.; and grandchildren, Whitney (Rob) Smith, Trey Willett, Andrew Willett, Alexandra Lyons, Audra Oppenheimer and Breck Oppenheimer.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2003, at Steen Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel on Central Avenue by the Rev. David Fultz. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight, Oct. 23, 2003, at the funeral home.
