Marjorie Arthur

1923-2003

Marjorie Lee Arthur, 80, of Ashland, Ky., died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, in St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va.

Mrs. Arthur was born Aug. 24, 1923, in Irvine, Ky., a daughter of the late Frank E. and Winifred Hill.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, William T. (Bus) Arthur, in 1986.

A homemaker, she was of the Methodist faith, was an avid gardener, and a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Surviving are a son, William Arthur of Winchester, Va.; three daughters, Susan Arthur Mullins of Catlettsburg, Ky., Katie Arthur (Paul) McKenzie of Plano, Texas, and Mary Lee Arthur of Ashland; a brother,David Hill of Springfield, Ohio; a sister, Phyllis Fillplak of Sterling Heights, Mich.; three grandsons, Billy Ray McKenzie of Dallas, Adam Wayne Mullins of Catlettsburg and William J. Arthur of Washington, D.C.; four granddaughters, Theresa Lynn Arthur of Summersville, Ky., Megan Arthur of Warrenton, Va., and Lena McKenzie and Paula Kay McKenzie, both of Marietta, Ga.; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

The funeral was held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.

Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland was in charge of arrangements.

Contributions may be made to Community Harvest Kitchen, c/o Calvary Episcopal Church, 1337 Winchester Ave., Ashland, Ky. 41101.

The family would like to thank the staff on Sixth South Team 3 and the food service department at St. Mary's Medical Center for their kindness toward our mother. They made her last days filled with tender care. The family thanks you from the bottom of our hearts.
