1918-2003
Charles S. Arthur, 85, of Ashland, Ky., died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, in King's Daughters Medical Center.
Mr. Arthur was born April 3, 1918, in Ashland, a son of the late George C. and Hester Miller Arthur.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary F. Griffin Arthur; a stepson, Daren Colegrove; and a stepdaughter, Janet Sparks.
He was a retired clerk for Hills Department Store, was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, was a member of First Baptist Church of Cannonsburg, Ky., and was a life member of VFW.
Surviving are a son, Charles D. Arthur of Florida; two stepsons, Larry Colegrove of Ashland and David Colegrove of Load, Ky.; a daughter, Kim Anderson of Mansfield, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Elaine Friece of Manassas, Va.; two sisters, Dorothy Becraft of Ashland and Cathrine Rohrer of Georgia; two grandchildren, Shawna McCauley of Mansfield, Ohio, and Tia McCauley of Cleveland; a great-grandchild, Raistlin McCauley of Mansfield; and a nephew, James Arthur of Ashland.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel by the Rev. Stan Williams. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
