Alene Davis

1924-2003

Alene Kitchen Davis, 79, of Gartin Ave., Ashland, died Friday, Dec. 12, in King's Daughters Medical Center.

Mrs. Davis was born Nov. 12, 1924, in Big Cat, Lawrence County, Ky., a daughter of the late John and Mary Rice Kitchen.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, The Esther Circle, Direct Watts Auxiliary of the El Hasa Shrine and a Charter Member of King's Daughters Auxiliary. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, James William "Armco Bill" Davis of Ashland; one son, James William "Jim" Davis Jr., of Cannonsburg; one daughter, Zoe Ann Brewer of Buchanan, Ky.; three sisters, Herma (Clyde) Smith of Big Cat, Edra Thompson of Ashland and Ruth (Frank) Austin of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; four grandchildren, James Buckley Davis, Skyler Davis Elswick, Seth Davis Brewer and Adam Davis Brewer; four great-grandchildren, Logan Brewer, Rylie and Spencer Elswick and Emma Grace Davis.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Ashland by the Rev. Dale Carden.

Friends may visit 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Steen Funeral Home-Central Ave. Chapel and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Friends are invited to visit with the family at their Gartin Ave. residence Tuesday evening after 4 p.m.
