Ruth Daniel

1917-2004

Ruth Murray Daniel, 86, of Ashland, died Friday, Feb. 13, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

Mrs. Daniel was born Feb. 25, 1917, in Johnson County, a daughter of the late C.B. and Loucina Chandler Murray.

She was retired as a teacher from Johnson County schools and Ashland city schools. She was a member of Oak Springs United Baptist Church in Ashland, Hillendale Homemakers and Oak Springs Women's Circle.

She is survived by her husband, L. Marshall Daniel of Ashland; two sons, Dr. Daniel F. Daniel of Winfield, Kan., and Stephen P. (Sally) Daniel of Virginia Beach, Va.; a daughter, Marsha Ann (Donald) Muir of Bel Air, Md.; two granddaughters, Rachel Daniel and Dawn Muir Frost; and two grandsons, Chris Daniel and Brian Daniel.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at Oak Springs United Baptist Church by Elder Ernie Daniels, Elder Arthur "Tiny" Breeding and Elder Dewey McCarty. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Steen Funeral Home- 13th Street Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland. The body will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Oak Springs United Baptist Church.

Friends may make contributions to the Oak Springs United Baptist Church, 732 39th Street, Ashland, KY 41101.

Marshall, I was saddened to hear of Ruth's passing. Having known you, and her through you, I know she was a fine, Christian woman, one whose life counted for much good through the years. My prayers and best wishes are with you and your family.
