Mary Louise May

1941-2004

Mary Louise May, age 62, of Russell, Ky., died Monday, March 22, 2004, in King's Daughters Medical Center following a sudden illness.

Mrs. May, who was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, was born July 3, 1941, in Ashland, Ky., a daughter of Louise Gambill Stinson of Bradenton, Fla., and the late Lawrence Stinson, who died in 1959.

She retired from National City Bank. After her retirement, she worked 14 years at KY Bank and Trust, then most recently, began working for the Lawrence Federal Savings Bank in Ironton, Ohio.

She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Ashland, where she was a member of the chancel choir and a deacon for many years. She was a 25-year member of the local Poage Chapter of the DAR, a 1960 graduate of Ashland High School and attended Eastern Kentucky University.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 35 years, Frederick May of Russell; a son, Shawn May, who is employed at Yusa Corp. in Washington Courthouse, Ohio, and his wife, AnnaJo of Chillicothe, Ohio; a daughter, Kimberly May of Lexington, Ky., where she is attending the University of Kentucky and pursuing a Ph.D. in chemical engineering; a sister, Justine Sprenger, the wife of Dr. Thomas R. Sprenger of Bradenton, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Christopher Patrick and Thomas May.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Ashland. by the Rev. Robert Stauffer. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland and one hour before the service Saturday at the church.

I am in Fl. and have just heard of Mary's death. Please know You and your family are in my prayers and Mary contributed so much to our church choir and serving in many positions. May God who says He will never leave us Comfortless be near to you at this time.
