Ralph Hayward Hollan
1923-2004
Ralph Hayward Hollan, age 81, of Russell, Ky., died Saturday, March 27, 2004, in Hospice Care Center.
He was born Jan. 30, 1923, in Morehead, Ky., a son of the late Colson David and Eula Utterback Hollan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Parker Hollan, in 2001; a son, Frank Hollan; and two brothers, Vincent Hollan and Carl Hollan.
He was a retired carpenter and construction worker. He was a World War II Army veteran and was a member of Poage Masonic Lodge 325 F&AM, El Hasa Shrine and Carpenters Local 472 since 1940.
Surviving are a daughter, Judy and her husband, Edward N. Dobbins, of Bellefonte, Ky.; a son, David and his wife, Carolyn Hollan of Cincinnati; five brothers, Wendell and his wife, Wanda, Hollan of Lexington, Ky., Jack and his wife, Doris Hollan, of Ashland, Ky., Gerald and his wife, Pat, Hollan, of North Fort Myers, Fla., Fred Hollan of Dunedin, Fla., and Charles and his wife, Lynda, Hollan of Lexington; a sister, Ruth and her husband, Jack Baker of Ashland; and three grandchildren, Jane Dobbins of Bellefonte and Nicholas and Ashley Hollan of Cincinnati.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Van Firestine and the Rev. Jack Edwards. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight, March 29, 2004, at the funeral home.
Masonic services will be held at 7 tonight by Poage Masonic Lodge 325 and military rites will be performed by Kenova American Legion Post 93 at the cemetery.
