Martha Frances Kahne

1931-2004

Martha Frances Kahne, 72, of Ashland, Ky., died Tuesday, March 30, 2004, in Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

Mrs. Kahne was born May 5, 1931, in Boyd County, Ky., a daughter of the late George W. and Marguerite Hensley Ross.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Rupert Ross and Ernest Jack Ross.

She was a former counselor for the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation, Commonwealth of Kentucky. She received her bachelor's degree in social work from the University of Kentucky, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Ashland, where she was a member of the choir.

Surviving are her husband, Louis H. Kahne of Ashland; a daughter, Rebekah Jane and her husband, Terry Salyer, of Ashland; two sons, Vincent Ross and his wife, Sherry Kahne, of Paducah, Ky., and Harry Louis and his wife, Sande Kahne, of Middletown, Ky.; two brothers, William D. Ross and Merrill Ross, both of Ashland; two sisters, Betty Jane and her husband, Frank H. Lowell, of Norfolk, Va., and Bonnie May and her husband, Billie A. McLeod, of Alexander, Va.; and six grandchildren, Robert Louis Kahne, Jayme Kathryn Kahne, Laura Jane Salyer, Tyler Mitchell Salyer, Ellen Frances Kahne and Leah Elizabeth Kahne.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 2, 2004, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel by the Rev. Ed Talley. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 tonight, April 1, 2004, at the funeral home.

Friends may make contributions to First Baptist Church, 1701 Winchester Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
