Roberta Esther Smith
1922-2004
Roberta Esther Smith, age 82, of Arthur Street, Ashland, Ky., died Sunday, March 28, 2004, in King's Daughters Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 16, 1922, in Ironton, Ohio, and was the daughter of the late Robert L. and Norma McFann Brown.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph M. Smith in 1999; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Ralph William and Irene Brown and Harold E. Brown.
She was a former bookkeeper with A &P.
Surviving are two daughters, Jan Denney of Columbus, Ohio, and Dee and her husband, Harry Berk, of Cave Creek, Ariz.; two brothers, Joseph F. and his wife, Jean Brown, of South Point, Ohio, and Robert D. and his wife, Hope Brown, of Ironton; a sister-in-law, Margie Brown of Coal Grove, Ohio; a sister, Margaret A. and her husband, Dwyatt Landrum of Kitts Hill, Ohio; two grandchildren, Terri and her husband, Dan Curry of Hilliard, Ohio, and Michael Denney of Gallipolis, Ohio; two great-grandchildren, Ryan Curry and Shannon Curry, both of Hilliard; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Linda Crider.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Woodland Cemetery in Ironton by Suffragan Bishop Elzy Thomas.
Friends may call from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
