Lannie Skaggs

1911-2004

Lannie Skaggs, 92, of Ashland, died Thursday, May 20, in Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility.

He was born Oct. 15, 1911, in Magoffin County, Ky., a son of the late Dockey and Dove Helton Skaggs.

His wife, Lucy Murray Skaggs, preceded him in death in 1999.

Mr. Skaggs was retired from the Carpenters Local Union 472. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Ashland.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Skaggs was also preceded in death by two brothers, Mannie and Charlie Skaggs; two sisters, Madge and Alice Montgomery; and one great-grandchild, David Fliehman.

His survivors include two daughters, Essie Fliehman and her husband George of Ashland and Nancy James and her husband Paul of Sevierville, Tenn.; two brothers, Hollie Skaggs of Ashland and Ollie Skaggs of Morrow, Ohio; two sisters, Zula Jenkins of Salyersville, Ky., and Felicia Helton of Morrow, Ohio; six grandchildren, Joe Fliehman (Tamra Jill), Jane F. Meade, Jill Anne Fliehman, Debra Pate (Ray), Elizabeth Brown and Stephen James; and six great-grandchildren, Andrew, Dan and Allison Fliehman, and Laura, Michael and Tim Pate.

Funeral services to honor Mr. Skaggs will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 24, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland with the Rev. Joed Rice officiating. Burial will follow in Ashland Cemetery.

Friends may call from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, Ky. 41101.
