Mary Julia "Judy" Sergent, of Ashland, Ky., died Aug. 1, 2004, in King's Daughters Medical Center.

Mrs. Sergent was born in Ashland and was a daughter of the late John R. Clemons Sr. and Mary Gladys Reed Clemons.

A sister, Sandra Kay Clemons, also preceded her in death.

She was a former employee of National City Bank, Main Office, attended Beech Street Christian Church, and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She was known for her generosity and love for others.

Surviving are her husband of 23 years, Jerry Dean Sergent of Ashland; daughters and sons-in-law, Malissa and Tim Sergent of Hendersonville, Tenn., Heather and Freddie Caldwell of Covington, Ky., and Holly and Rhett Robinson and Rachel and Joe Cooper, all of Lexington, Ky.; four grandchildren, Sydney Rae Sergent, age 6, Logan Dean Cooper, age 5, Robert Eli Robinson, age 2, and Sadie Jo Cooper, age 1; two brothers, John R. Clemons Jr. of Hudson, Fla., and James P. Clemons of Toledo, Ohio; and two sisters, Linda Y. Wheeler of Flatwoods, Ky., and Wanda Jo Bostick of Ashland.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel, 3409 13th St., Ashland, Ky. by the Rev. Kenneth Vaughn and the Rev. Hobe Weaver. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 tonight, Aug. 3, 2004, at the funeral home.
