A loving tribute to a very special person who has touched many lives in many ways.
Marie, better known to our community as "Mama," was born Nov. 3, 1927, to the late Israel and Oletta Sturgill Cassell in Floyd County, Ky. She departed thisi life with full Christian faith of a better life on Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at Kingsbrook Life Care Center at the age of 76.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, John C. Mills, her sister, Anna Mae Lemaster, two sons, Larry Daniel King of Michigan City, Ind., and Noah Richard Mills of Kenova, W.Va.
Her love for her family was very strong. She is survived by three sons, Douglas King and his wife, Lisa, of Louisville; Jimmy King and his wife, Connie, of Rush; Paul King and his wife, Jo, of Ashland; her daughter-in-laws, Diane (Larry) and Atha (Richard); a niece, Darlene Kazee; a nephew, Dale Lemaster; a sister, Ola Gertrude Lemaster; and many friends, two very special to her, Helen Brown and Beatrice Smith.
Marie prided herself in her grandchildren, Jackie, Melanee, Dougie, Christina, Christopher, Jennifer, Ritchie, Amy, Marci, Jessica, Michael, Brandie, Tara, Ashley, Matt, Zach, Amber and Dylan. She was also blessed with many great-grandchildren: Lyndsey, Nicholas, Jasmine, Damon, Cassie, Amanda, Robert, Kayla, Justin, Lexie, Mikah, Adrian, Abby, Alisa, Blake, Austin and Chase.
Her strong Christian faith was an example to all of those around her. She was a member of Blackburn Avenue Missionary Baptist Church and also attended Catlettsburg Freewill Baptist Church.
Before her illness, she was involved in many activities that supported our troops overseas.
During her illness, she taught us about patience, courage, determination and love.
With her passing, she leaves us knowing of a reassuring peace.
