Norma J. Hobbs, of Lexington, Ky., formerly of Ashland, Ky., died on Aug. 21, 2004, in Houston at the age of 76.

She was born Dec. 13, 1927, in Charleston, W.Va.

She received her bachelor of arts degree from West Virginia University in 1949. She was a member of Chi Omega Sorority and P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was also a member of Christ Church Cathedral Episcopal Church in Lexington.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Paul C. Hobbs; and her father, James H. O'Dell.

She is survived by her mother, Hazel Gates; her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Hobbs and Dr. Edgar Boedeker of Annapolis, Md.; her daughter and son-in-law, Susan Hobbs Boone and James A. Boone of Houston; her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Anne Hobbs McDaniel and J. Allen McDaniel of The Woodlands, Texas; and her grandchildren, Trey Boone, Tyler Boone and Maxwell McDaniel.

A service for family and close friends will be on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel, 3409 13th St., Ashland, Ky. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Lexington Theological Seminary, 631 S. Limestone St., Lexington, KY 40508 or Gladney Center for Adoption, 6300 John Ryan Drive, Fort Worth, TX 76132-4122.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until service time.
