George J. Dressel, 84, of Ashland, Ky., died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, at his residence following an extended illness.
Born Oct. 19, 1919 in Huntington, W.Va., Mr. Dressel was a son of the late J.B. and Thelma Amon Dressel.
He retired as secretary treasurer of Birch Distributors in 1984, served in the Navy as a Lt. J.G. in the South Pacific during World War II, was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and Ashland Elks B.P.O.E. 350, was a former member of Rotary Club, and received a bachelor's degree in accounting from Marshall University.
Surviving are his wife, Pearl Jo Birch Dressel; special nieces, Barbara Birch Boggs, Diane Birch Thomas and Helen Jo Horne Leach; and special nephews, James E. Ashworth Jr. and Richard Birch Ashworth.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, at Holy Family Catholic Church by Father John Noe and Dr. Richard Smith. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
