Frances L. Kreger, 74, of Ashland, Ky., died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, in Woodland Oaks Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Kreger was born April 18, 1929, in Toledo, Ohio, a daughter of the late Rev. Harry W. Sr. and Golda Gaskill Whetsel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Ray Kreger, in 1990; a brother, Donald Whetsel; and a sister, Mildred Rechin.

A homemaker, she was a member of South Ashland United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Danny Ray Kreger of Prichard, W.Va., and Dennis Lee Kreger of Ashland; two brothers, Erwin Whetsel of Pennsylvania and Arthur Whetsel of Toledo; a sister, Betty June Johnson of Ashland; four grandchildren, Danny Ray Kreger Jr., Bill Kreger, Dennis Lee Kreger Jr. and David Green, all of Ashland; and great-grandchildren, Danielle Kreger, Casey Kreger and Jacob Kreger, all of Ashland, and Dustin Kreger and Sheldon Mullins of Ironton, Ohio.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by Darrell Griffith. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.

Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
