Paul Miller Foster, age 81, of Ashland, Ky., died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, in King's Daughters Medical Center.

He was born March 30, 1923, in Winding Gulf, W.Va., a son of the late Brice M. and Mattie Kirk Foster.

He was a retired ironworker and taught iron workers apprentice program at the Vocational School. He was a World War II Army veteran, was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, was a 32nd degree Mason with Smith Masonic Lodge, a life member and past commander twice with American Legion Post No. 76, a life member of V.F.W. of Huntington, W.Va., and a member of Catlettsburg Elks Lodge, Eagle and Moose Lodge in Ashland.

Surviving are his wife, Helena Hicks Foster of Ashland; a son and his wife, Jon and Linda Foster, of Lexington, Ky.; two daughters, Carole and her husband, Charles Plybon of Kenova, W.Va., and Lea Anne and her husband, Martin Caines of Ashland; and grandchildren, Andy and his wife, Jessica Foster of Lexington, Kevin Caines of Ashland and Kelsey Plybon of Kenova, W.Va.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. David Gross. Burial will be in Kirk Family Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004, at the funeral home.

Masonic services will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004, at the funeral home by Smith Masonic Lodge 775 F&AM.
