Rev. John Delbert Withrow (1923-2004)

Rev. John Delbert Withrow, age 81, of Ashland, Ky., died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, in Oakmont Manor Nursing Facility.
Rev. Withrow was born Sept. 15, 1923, in Princess, Ky., a son of the late Samuel Everett and Flossie Belle Morrison Withrow.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Lloyd Paul Withrow; a daughter, Bonita Sue Withrow; two brothers, Charles Withrow and Carl Withrow; and a sister, Helen Blair.
He was a former pastor of Williams Creek Church of God and was a retired electronic technician with Air Products & Chemical Corp.
He was a World War II Navy veteran, was a member of Hoods Creek Freewill Baptist Church, Rush Masonic Lodge No. 715 F&AM, and Rush Eastern Star, and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Martha Jane Bowling Withrow; a son, John Michael Withrow of Ashland; a daughter, Delberta Gail Barton of Raceland, Ky.; brothers, William Withrow, Eugene Withrow, Roger Withrow, and Chester Withrow, all of Ashland, Donald Withrow of Nevada and Ersill Withrow of Pennsylvania; a sister, Sue Fryer of Ashland; and four grandchildren, Christopher Michael Withrow, Joshua David Barton, Mathew Ryan Withrow and Jamie Denise Barton.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hoods Creek Freewill Baptist Church by the Rev. Sheldon Wheeler and Pastor Dale Henson. Burial will be in Kirby Flats Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 tonight at the Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland. There will be a Masonic service at 6:30 tonight at the funeral home.
Friends may also call from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Military services will be conducted by American Legion Kenova Post No. 93.
