Lloyd M. Ross, 80, of Ashland, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at Boyd County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Ross was born Aug. 20, 1924, in Laverne, Minn., the only son of the late Walt and Lena Plooster Ross.

He is also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sue Greene Ross, who died in 2002.

Mr. Ross was retired from Wright Patterson Air Force base as an air conditioning repairman. He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran, having served with the 511th ABSIG Co. 11th AB division. He received a Distinguished Unit Badge, a Good Conduct medal, a Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two bronze stars, an American Theater Ribbon, an Asian Pacific Theater ribbon with three bronze stars and the WWII Victory Medal. He was a member of Oak Springs United Baptist Church in Ashland.

Surviving are his daughters and their husbands, Bridgette and Tom Harding of Pikeville and Jo and Randy Sturgill of Ashland, and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel with Ernie Daniels and Tiny Breeding officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Burial Park. A military service will be conducted by the American Legion Kenova Post 93.

Friends may call one hour before the service Monday at the funeral home.
