Mary Elizabeth Bolt (1926-2004)

Mary Elizabeth Bolt, age 77, passed away in peace as a result of complications from Alzheimer's disease.
Mary Elizabeth was born Nov. 16, 1926, in West Virginia. Her father was Lawrence O. Billups and her mother was Helen Thompson Billups.
She attended Hurricane High School and was a graduate of the St. Mary's School of Nursing in Huntington, W.Va.
She married James W. Bolt in 1947 and they lived most of their lives at 710 14th St., in Ashland, Ky. Jim preceded her in death in 1988. Mary Elizabeth worked for 20 years at the Ashland Child Development Center on Central Avenue in Ashland and was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church.
Two sons, a daughter, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren survive Mary Elizabeth Bolt. Her son, David Bolt, who with his wife, Jennifer, and their child, Spencer Bolt, live in Morehead, Ky., where Elizabeth was cared for the past two years. They have two older daughters, Mandy Bolt Brown of Franklin, Ky., and her husband, Scott, and their two children, Tanner and Riley Grey, and Sharon Bolt Gibbs of Port Charlotte, Fla., and her husband, Holden, and their daughter, Cassidy.
Her son, Edward L. Bolt lives in Ashland, along with his wife, Thresia and their daughter, Linda Leigh, who is currently attending Morehead State University, where she is enrolled in the University of Kentucky Physician Assistant Program.
Her daughter, Carol Ann Bolt Baker and her husband, Glenn, and their two young sons, Nicholas and Tristen, live in Shelbyville, Ky.
Her family will always remember her as a fun-loving and caring person. She was a friend to her children and grandchildren, in addition to being a loving mother and grandmother. She relished being around children and will be remembered fondly by many she cared for at the day care center during her career there.
Visitation will be tonight, Nov. 5, from 6 to 9 at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at the funeral home by the Rev. Wayne Watts, with burial immediately following at the Bolt Cemetery.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations in her name be made to either the Lewis County Primary Care Center, P.O. Box 550, Vanceburg, KY 41179, St. Claire Hospice, 222 Medical Circle, Morehead, KY 40351 or Sanders-Brown Center on Aging, 101 Sanders-Brown Building, 800 S. Limestone, Lexington, KY 40536-0230.
