David D. "D.D." Fields (1950-2004)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Posted: 11/04/04 - 10:09:12 pm EST

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

David D. "D.D." Fields, age 54, of Catlettsburg, Ky., departed this world of pain to walk with his Lord on Nov. 3, 2004, in King's Daughters Medical Center following a sudden illness.

Mr. Fields was born Jan. 2, 1950, in Ashland, Ky., a son of the late Roy and Eva Sparks Fields.

His son, Mark David Fields, preceded him in death in 1995.

He was retired from Bricklayers Local No. 7, where he served as vice president, was a member of Heritage Temple Freewill Baptist Church, was a 1969 graduate of Boyd County High School, and was an avid turkey and coon hunter who enjoyed scouring the woods searching for the "Big Gobbler" and re-living old hunts.

Surviving are Linda Sargent Fields, his loving wife of 34 years of Catlettsburg; two daughters, Shawna Fields Atkins and her husband, Joe, and Misty Fields Criswell, all of Catlettsburg; two brothers, Jim and his wife, Cheryl Fields, and Roy and his wife, Sue Fields, all of Catlettsburg; three sisters, Pauline Wagner of Ashland, and Rita Tussey and her husband, George and Kay Crisp, all of Catlettsburg; and three grandsons, his best buddy, Ryan, Alan and Aaron.

D.D. will be loved and missed by a host of family and friends. D.D. will be remembered as a man who was always ready with a smile or joke and loved people, never meeting a stranger.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at the Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by Dr. Tim York. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Passed your alls house on my way home and got to thinking about our baseball coaching days and AllStar games together/against each other. Didn't realize mon or tues when I passed you and you waved to me as I was returning from Yatesville with my boat that I would not ever take you fishing like we discussed last winter. You will be missed.

To the family of D.D. I feel like I have been a part of your family all my life, everytime I think of D.D. I remember him climbing out the church window during prayer with a big smile on his face. D.D. will be missed very much by family and friends and my prayers and thoughts are with each of you. May God Bless and be with you during this trying time.
