Grace M. Norris

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Grace M. Norris, 84, of Ashland, Ky., went home on Jan. 4, 2005, while at the Ashland Community Hospice Center, to be with her precious heavenly father.

Her delight was in the Lord and to service Him and being an ambassador of goodwill. Grace was the daughter of the late Andrew C. and Essie Moore and was preceded in death by her husband, Lester A. Norris; a son, Charles Edward Norris; brothers Evert, Ben, Kelly, Cecil, Chester and Charles Moore; and two sisters, Ina Stephenson and Kathleen Vance.

Grace is survived by two daughters, Mildred Walters and her husband, Ralph, of Coal Grove, Ohio, and Phyllis Terrell and her husband, Bob, of Corbin, Ky.; a daughter-in-law, Vae Norris; a brother, Bob Moore and his wife, Myrtle; and a sister, Irene Henderickson, all of Ashland.

She had 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Grace was a member of the Pollard Baptist Church for 55 years, During that period, she served as a GA leader and Sunday school teacher. Grace was a very special mother to Ed, Mid and Phyllis. They lost their mother as very small children and Grace raised them, taught them and gave them the love they needed after going through such a loss. She was a wonderful helpmate to Les. Her sense of humor, faith in God and compassion for others made her a good person to talk to if you had a problem or needed a boost in spirit.

Her later days at home were made possible by wonderful loving friends, Mary Ward, Chris Adkins, Margret Carroll, Alma Hutchinson, Ruby Litteral, Mary Coburn and Glema Kouns and a very special niece, Sherry McCormick, also many family, friends and loved ones that kept her in their prayers. Her loss is felt by all who were family and friends, but the memories will always be cherished.

To honor Grace, a funeral ceremony will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland with visiting from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Services will be by the Rev. Charles E. Stewart and the Rev. Tom Swartzwelder.

Contributions may be sent to Pollard Baptist Church, 444 Blackburn Ave., Ashland, KY 41102 or Hospice Care Center, 2330 Pollard Road, Ashland, KY 41101.

Dear Lord, A wonderful caring servent is in Your care now. There are so many people that she touched, taught Your way and showed kindness and love to all. I miss her so very, very much but am comforted knowing that one day we will all be reunited and live FOREVER with You. Thank you for giving me my Grandmother. I loved her with all my heart. In Jesus name I pray, Diane

Was sorry to hear of Grace's passing, but know that she is in a better place & receiving her reward! She was very special to me as I grew up at Pollard. She was my Sunday School teacher, GA leader and just someone who was always there. When I moved away & went home for visits, she was always at church. She will be greatly missed.
