Carl Terrance Mussetter, 68, of Ashland, died Friday, Jan. 21, in King's Daughters Medical Center.
Mr. Mussetter was born Jan. 25, 1936, in Ashland, a son of the late Carl Graham and Ethel Mac Kiser Mussetter.
He also was preceded in death by his wife, Iredith Anne Stewart Mussetter.
He was a lifelong grocer and merchant in the Ashland area, the founder of Mussetter's Super Value stores and founder and co-owner of Daniel's Bakery. He also was the owner of Dippy Whips in Flatwoods and Grayson and Michael's Clothing in Ashland. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Elks BPO 350 and was an Eagle Scout.
Surviving are a daughter, Terri Renee Mussetter of Lexington; two sons, Carl Graham "Butch" Mussetter II and his wife, Lisa, of Ashland, and David Mussetter and his wife, Tina, of Ashland; a brother, Michael Henry Mussetter of Ashland; a sister, Betsy Louise Mussetter of Ashland; and nine grandchildren, Jessica, Terry, Amanda, Evan, Jay and Miles Mussetter and Mary Stewart, Charles Morgan and Betsy Lee Montague.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, at Calvary Episcopal Church with the Rev. Mann S. Valentine VI. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel.
