Walter William "Bill" Dalton, 62, of Ashland, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, at the Community Hospice Care Center.

Mr. Dalton was born Jan. 27, 1942, in Catlettsburg, a son of the late Walter and Jessie Prince Dalton.

He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Nora Lee Dalton and Patricia Dalton Ratliff.

Mr. Dalton was retired from Kentucky Electric Steel, where he was affectionately known as "Dink," after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Second Freewill Baptist Church of Ashland and a member of the Kentucky Long Rifles Association Local 7054. He was an avid outdoorsman and musician.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Betty Jo Marcum Dalton; a daughter, Debra Lee Dalton Day and her husband, John Wesley, of Ashland; three brothers, Jerry Dalton and his wife, Alada, of South Point, Jeff Dalton of Summit, and Mike Dalton and his wife, Helen, of Crum, W.Va.; a sister, Betty Clark and her husband, James, of Summit; three grandchildren, his namesake Jonathan William Day of Ashland, Erin Lindsey day of Flatwoods and Tara Lynn Skarski of South Bend, Ind.

Mr. Dalton also is survived by his special friends: Russ, Sue and Jeff Skarski of South Bend, Ind., and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Dalton had come to know the Lord during his illness and God had blessed him with sweetness and peace about his passing. He worried not about himself, but only those which he was to leave behind.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel with Pastors Randy Skaggs and Ken Walker officiating. Entombment will be at Rose Hill Burial Park.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

We Were Not Aware Of Dink's Death Until Today. If We Would Have Knew In Time, We Would Have Came To Pay Our Respects. I Worked With Dink For Several Years And Always Thought Highly Of Him. You And Your Family Are In Our Prayers. God Bless, Larry And Dianna Kees.

Debbie and Betty, It has been many, many years since our paths have crossed - I believe the last time was at Debbie and John's wedding and before that when Debbie and I were in school together. I wanted to send you my deepest sympathy for your loss and to let you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Angie
