Everett Warnie "Wally" Wallace, 82, of Ashland, Ky., formerly of Cannonsburg, Ky., died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, in King's Daughters Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 23, 1922, in Chesapeake, Ohio, a son of the late Raymond Wallace and Edna Murray Wallace Darby.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. Wallace, in 2001.
He was retired from the shipping department of Armco Steel with 35 years of services. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor, fighting in the Pacific throughout World War II with the Battery F of the 64th Coastal Artillery, U.S. Army.
He was a member of Unity Baptist Church, was a Kentucky colonel, was a former chairman of the board of the Cannonsburg Volunteer Fire Department, was a member of the Red Cross, and VFW Post No. 15018, was the military grand marshall of the first 4th of July Parade, and was a former Ashland Tomcat football player.
Surviving are a daughter, Becky Wallace (Greg) Wymer of Ashland; a son, William R. (Lydia) Wallace of Ashland; and three grandchildren, Robert Sean Wallace, Roger Fitch and Bryan Fitch.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland. Entombment will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
