Kathryn S. Bryan, 84, of Ashland, Ky., died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, in Baton Rouge, La.

She was born May 9, 1920, in Charleston, W.Va., a daughter of the late Harold R. Sr. and Edna Pauline McLean Stump.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Harold R. Stump Jr.

She was a retired secretary in the personnel and addressograph department at Ashland Oil Inc. with 21 years of service. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ashland, was an officer in the Ashland Oil Inc. Arcoettes, was a volunteer in the Ashland Public Schools, graduated from Ashland High School in 1938, and attended Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky., and Queens College in Charlotte, N.C.

Kathryn was the cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother of daughter, Barbara Bryan Longeway and her husband, Peter, of Baton Rouge; grandchildren, Bryan, Russ, and Stephanie Longeway; and great-granddaughter, Caroline Longeway.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Doug Snyder. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery in Huntington, W.Va.

Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, at the funeral home.
