--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

James Edward Meadows, 77, of Russell, Ky., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, at his residence.

Jim was born May 10, 1927, in Flat Top Mountain in West Virginia. He was the son of the late Elvin and Pluma Ross Meadows.

He retired from the C&O Railroad after many years of service. He was a member of the Thirteenth Street Baptist Church and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by one son, Charles (Cheryl) Meadows of Richmond, Ky.; two daughters, Vicci (Bill) Rolley of Danville, Ky., and Charlotte (Brian) Hubert of Merritt Island, Fla.; two brothers, Hugh (Eleanor) Meadows of Princeton, W.Va., and Donald (Shirley) Meadows of Greenup, Ky.; 11 grandchildren, Kerri, Tricia, Jeremy, Monica, Natalie, Travis, Tony, Jessica, Amber, Brian, and Nathan; and five great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Rileigh, Evan, Darica and Danielle.

Many lives have been blessed by Jim's loving kindness. He loved to help others and mostly he loved the Lord.

A memorial service will be held at the Thirteenth Street Baptist Church on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, at 1 p.m. by Pastor Bill Parker and Pastor Henry Mahan. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.

Burial will be in Camp Nelson Cemetery in Nicholasville, Ky.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Thirteenth Street Baptist Church, 3430 13th St., Ashland, KY 41101 as Jim's desire was to support the ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Services are under the direction of the Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland.
