Dolores Stapleton Fosson (1922-2004)

Dolores Stapleton Fosson peacefully passed away at Community Hospice on Feb. 26, 2005.
Dolores was born in Middleton, Calif., on April 3, 1922, to the late W.C. and Frieda Koopman Richardson.
She was predeceased by her husband, O. Bruce Stapleton Jr., the father of her children; her sister, Joyce Lemon; and by W.R. Fosson, her second husband.
She graduated from Ashland High School and attended the University of Kentucky.
Ashland was her home for the majority of her life except for spending the war years at different bases around the country with her pilot husband and a few years in Charleston, S.C., in the 1960s.
She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church, the Three Arts Club, a Gold Circle member of the Paramount Women Association, and an active member of the Bellefonte Country Club. Dolores was an accomplished bridge player, loved to dabble in art, and was widely traveled.
Surviving are her family of which she was extremely proud: Son, Dr. Bruce Stapleton and his wife, Kim; grandchildren, Mary Stapleton Davy and her husband, Roger, and John Stapleton and his wife, Casey; stepgrandchild, Tyler Harbour; daughter, Sallie Stapleton Alexander and her husband, Bill; grandchildren, Bill Alexander, Sarah Alexander Biehl and her husband, Steve; daughter, Susie Stapleton Points and her husband, Steve; and grandchildren, Josh and Blake Points.
Dolores was also happy to have her great-great-grandchildren as part of her life: Brighid Biehl, Ashland Biehl and Jack Davy.
Visitation will take place at John Steen Funeral Home on Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, from 5 to 7 p.m. with services to be held on March 1, 2005, at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Dale Carden. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Community Hospice for their loving care and First United Methodist Church for their great support.
