Michael G. Ehrie Sr., 81, of Naples, Fla., formerly of Ashland, Ky., died Saturday, March 12, 2005, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital following a short illness.
Mr. Ehrie was born Feb. 15, 1924, in Fountain County, Ind., a son of the late John and Anna Wakeland Ehrie.
He was also preceded in death by his twin sister, Margaret Ehrie.
He was former owner of Delmar Shop, Mark-Matthews, and Parsons Department Store and was owner of Forrest Realty Co. in Naples.
He was an Army World War II veteran, was a member of First United Methodist Church in Ashland, where he served on the board, was past president of the Downtown Merchants Association, served on the Urban Renewal Board, was former president of the Ashland Little League, and was a member of Rotary, Elks, Bellefonte Country Club and Naples Lakes Country Club.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Ricketts Ehrie of Naples; three sons, Dr. Michael G. Jr. and his wife, Jane Ehrie, of Ashland, Mark and his wife, Barbara Ehrie of Naples and Matthew and his wife, Nicole Ehrie of Waldwick, N.J.; three brothers, Bill Ehrie of Chula Vista, Calif., Jack Ehrie of Lafayette, Ind., and Wesley Ehrie of Crawfordsville, Ind.; six sisters, Rose Cavault and Norma Kincade, both of Vedersburg, Ind., Judy Harshbarger and Patty Dixon, both of Crawfordsville, Martha Shanks of Villa Grove, Ill., and Shirley Keaton of Ashbrow, N.C.; five grandchildren, Michael G. Ehrie III, Margaret Bowen Ehrie, Mark R. Ehrie Jr., Travis Ehrie and Grace Caroline Ehrie; and a great-grandchild, Foster Ehrie.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2005, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Dale Carden and the Rev. Edwin Talley. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.
