Mamie B. Meade, 87, of Ashland, Ky., died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at her residence.

Mrs. Meade was born March 28, 1917, in Liberty, Ky., a daughter of the late Jesse and Pearl Atwood Brown.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Meade in 1985; a daughter-in-law, Wilma Bartle; three brothers, Elmer Brown, Grove Brown and Jesse Brown; and two sisters, Lela Brown and Naomi Brown.

She was employed at Weinfurtner Quality Bakery and Town House Restaurant and was a member of Liberty Methodist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Faye B. and her husband, George Lenning of Ashland; a son, Charles E. Sr. and his wife, Delores Bartle of Flatwoods, Ky.; a sister, Mary Eva Carman of Kermit, Texas; grandchildren, Anita (Edsel Jr.) Fitzpatrick, Barbara (Robert) Niesel, Marsha Daniels, Charles (Diane) Bartle and Vickie (Randy) Dethridge; great-grandchildren, Corbin Fitzpatrick, Aaron Fitzpatrick, Rebekah (Ray) Williams, Jacob Daniels, Cody Daniels, Nicole Niesel, Michelle Campbell, and Andrew Bailey; great-great-grandchildren, Ashlynn Bailey, Harlea Fitzpatrick, Parker Williams and Kata Crizer; and special friends, Dora Stevens and Bonnie Sparks.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Lance Campbell and the Rev. Charles Bartle Jr. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2005, at the funeral home.

Friends may make contributions to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101 or South Ashland United Methodist Church, 2203 29th St., Ashland, KY 41101.
