Martin Junior Bays, 57, of Argillite, Ky., died Thursday, March 31, 2005, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.

Mr. Bays was born March 17, 1948, in Ashland, Ky., a son of Ella Mae Conley Bays of Ashland and the late Thomas Junior Bays.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Larry Thomas Bays and Timmie Ray Bays.

He was retired from Armco Steel, was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and was a member of American Legion No. 76 and Eagles.

Additional survivors include his wife, Vina Patton Bays of Argillite; a son, Marty (Alison) Bays of Cannonsburg, Ky.; two stepsons, John Harlow and Clayton (Brandy) Harlow, both of Greenup, Ky.; a daughter, Pam (Mike) Hall of Cannonsburg; a brother, Gary David (Connie) Bays of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; a sister, Patty Ann (Dale) Crum of Greenup; five grandchildren, Bobby Brantley, Tiffany Hall, Alyssa Hall, Megan Bays and Sara Bays; three stepgrandchildren, Zadic Harlow, Kaleb Harlow and Devan Harlow; and Jim (Toby) Phillips of Westwood, Ky., whom he reared.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland. Burial will be in Whitt Family Cemetery in Greenup.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
