Richard A. "Dick" Gunter, 72, of Ashland, died Saturday, April 16, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

Mr. Gunter was born April 20, 1932, in Ashland, a son of the late Carl Gunter Sr. and Ruby Blizzard Gunter.

Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Carl Gunter Jr. and William Gunter.

Mr. Gunter was retired from Armco Steel and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He also was a member of Pollard Baptist Church and was a devoted husband and father.

He was the husband of Betty Bellamy Gunter, his wife of 50 years.

Other survivors are a daughter, Kenna Clark and her husband, Harlan, of Wurtland; a brother, Tom Gunter, and his wife, Lynn, of Farmville, Va.; a sister-in-law, Peggy Gunter of Monroe, Ohio; two sisters, Jo Gunter of Monroe, and Peggy Barber and her husband, Dempsey, of Ashland; and five nieces and nephews; and a dear friend of the family, Connie Howes of Wurtland, whom he thought of as a second daughter.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 18, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel with the Rev. Tom Swartzwelder officiating. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to Pollard Baptist Church, 444 Blackburn Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
