Talmadge Tomlin Sr. (1942-2005)

Talmadge Tomlin Sr., 62 of Greenup, formerly of Westwood, died April 29, 2005, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland after a brief illness.
Mr. Tomlin was born Dec. 11, 1942, in Ashland, Ky., a son of the late Allen and Gladys Hignite Tomlin, formerly of Westwood.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa (Missy) Tomlin; and a brother, John Tomlin.
He was a retired crane operator with 37 years of service at AK Steel.
Mr. Tomlin was an avid boater, NASCAR fan and golfer playing in several leagues over the years including the AK Steel League, Shriners League and the Flatwoods Legion Post 3025 League and was a member of The Hole In One Club.
He was also a member of the Elks B.P.O.E. 350, Eagles 2329, the Hampton Masonic Lodge 235, 320 Scottish Rite Valley of Covington, El Hasa Shrine, Hillbilly Unit Clan No. 1, The Motor Corp., Greenup Amvets Post 95, VFW Post 1168, and the American Legion Posts 76, 43, and 3025.
His survivors include four sons, Talmadge Tomlin Jr. of Westwood, Charles (Becky) Tomlin of Flatwoods, Joseph (Vicki) Tomlin of Flatwoods, and Russell Kyle Tomlin of Catlettsburg; three brothers, Allen (Minnie) Tomlin of Bellefonte, Gary (Lois) Tomlin of Flatwoods, and Darrell (Sue) Tomlin of Load; three sisters, Kay (Bill) Wheatley of Boyd County, Pam (Denver) Bluebaum and Dana (Bill) Waller, both of Westwood; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland with the Rev. Kenny Klaiber officiating. Burial will follow in Dixon Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Randy Hollingsworth, Clemont (Bubby) Bays, Wynston (Bozo) Vallance, Glen Grubb, Dave Harris, Ron Elliott and Garry Cerniglia.
Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. by Hampton Lodge 235.
Friends may make contributions in memory of Mr. Tomlin to the Shriners Hospital, 1900 Richmond Road, Lexington, KY 40502-1298.
