Martha Lou Childers Hill, 78, of Ashland, Ky., died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.

Mrs. Hill was born June 13, 1926, in Ashland, a daughter of the late John W. Childers Sr. and Bessie Hicks Conley Childers.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dr. H. Lloyd Hill.

A homemaker, she was retired from Ashland Drug, was a very active participant in craft shows and bazaars and was a former member of South Ashland Homemakers. She was a member of Meade Station Church of God and was "THE BEST COOKIE BAKER."

Surviving are a son, Greg Hill (Andrea) of Durham, N.C.; nieces Jane Kincaid of Worthington, Ky., Ann Young of Springfield, Va., and Billie Cogan of Ashland; a nephew, Tim Heaberlin of Wurtland, Ky.; two sisters, Betty Cogan of Ashland and Margaret Childers of Louisville, Ky.; a grandson, Gregory Hill of Chicago; and many other nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2005, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Rob Jordan. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2005, at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to Meade Station Church of God, 1315 Marsh Hill Drive, Catlettsburg, KY 41129.
