Betty June Dowell, 76, of 833 Franz Circle, Ashland, Ky., died Sunday, May 15, 2005, in King's Daughters Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 4, 1929, in Wayne, W.Va., a daughter of the late Rice and Ida Cyrus Osburn.

Mrs. Dowell was also preceded in death by a brother, Harold Osburn, and two sisters, Blanche Ackerman Bailey and Mildred Damron.

She was former owner of Pet Tropical, a member of First Church of God and a Women's International Bowling Conference officer.

Surviving are her husband, Ginger L. Dowell of Ashland; four daughters, Cheryl (Garry) Lewis, Gaye Lynn (Michael) Phillips and Sue Ellen (Jeff) Adams, all of Ashland, and Ida Lu Anne (Mark) Hermansdorfer of Indialantic, Fla.; two sons, Robert Louis (Debbie) Dowell of Ashland and Gary Michael (Betty Jean) Dowell of Barre, Vt.; a brother, Howard Osburn of Wayne; a sister, Lola Gilbert of Louisville, Ky.; grandchildren Jim Lewis, Angela Lewis, Joe Dowell, Matt McDowell, Deanna Lambert, Christina Dowell, Ian Dowell, Heather Robinson, John Adams, Derrick Hermansdorfer, Ginger Adams and Keelyn Hermansdorfer; and seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by Pastor Randy Osburn. Entombment will be in Ashland Cemetery Mausoleum.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
