Nell "Nanny" Hart White (1921-2005)

Nell "Nanny" Hart White, 83, of Bellefonte, died Thursday, June 16, 2005, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

Mrs. White was born July 27, 1921, in Bath County, Ky., a daughter of the late Ed G. and Maggie Lee Thomas Hart.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Ed White, in 1984; and a son, Richard L. White.

She was a homemaker and upholster and was a member of National Campers and Hikers Association. She was a proud and loving grandmother.

Surviving are two sons, John G. (Ruth) White of Danville, Ky., and Billy L. (Betty) White of Ashland, Ky.; three daughters, Wilma "Brucie" (Don) Prater of Ashland, Jenny (Jeff) Walters of Ashland, and Rosemary (Mark) Kirk of Charlottesville, Va.; a brother, Edward Lee Hart of Dayton, Ohio; a sister, Lyda P. Reich of Trotwood, Ky.; grandchildren, Susan Short, John White, Kim White, Donny Prater, Ann Cline, Megan Ravencraft, Mark White, Josh Ravencraft, Emily Kirk and Evan Kirk; and great-grandchildren, Caroline and Olivia Short, Samuel and Sarah Cline, Ashley White and Will Prater.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 19, 2005, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by Pastor Charles Stewart and Pastor Jimmy Nichols. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 tonight, June 18, 2005, at the funeral home.

Friends may make contributions to Rose Hill Christian School, Scholarship Fund, 1001 Winslow Road, Ashland, KY 41102.
