Cecil McGuire, 76, of Ashland, died Sunday, June 19, 2005, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
Mr. McGuire was born April 17, 1929, in Pike County, a son of the late Frank and Alka Pinson McGuire.
He was a retired grocer in the Tri-State with 30 years of management servce with the Kroger Co. and a former owner of the McGuire's IGA in Huntington. He also had 20 years of affiliation with the South Point Foodfair.
He was a sergeant first class in the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War.
Mr. McGuire is survived by his wife of 53 years, Darith Jill Adkins McGuire. He also is survived by a son, Gerald Lee McGuire of Somerset, and a daughter and son-in-law, Cecilia Jill and Mark "Rusty" Lambert of Ironton; and a step-grandchild, Bethany Lambert Smith.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, at Ashland Cemetery with Chaplin Frank Jarrell officiating. Military graveside services will be by American Legion Post 93 of Kenova.
Friends may call from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue.
