Ronald Evans, 64, of West New Buckley Road, Ashland, Ky., died Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at his residence.

Mr. Evans was born Oct. 23, 1940, in Ashland, a son of the late Raymond Preston and Eva Marie Wilson Evans.

He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law and good friend, Ron Martin in April, 2005; and a sister, Juanita Evans.

He was a former employee of CSX where he had worked as a yard brakeman and a conductor. He had also worked with Pinkerton Security. He was an U.S. Army, Air Force and Navy veteran, a member of Second Freewill Baptist Church and a graduate of Ashland High School.

Surviving are his wife of 21 years, Rebekah McKnight Evans of Ashland; his mother-in-law, Alice McKnight of Ashland; four sisters-in-law, Pat (Bob) Godbey, Loretta Wheeldon, Joan (Mike) Burke and Hazel Martin; two brothers-in-law, Cecil (Billie) McKnight and Charles (Sherry) McKnight; a brother, Ray "June" Evans of Ashland; and several loving nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2005, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Ken Walker. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery with military services by American Legion Kenova Post No. 93.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Friends may make contributions to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
