Ernest W. Music Sr., 90, of Hernando, Fla., died July 1, 2005, at his "Home" at Citrus Health and Rehab. He was under the loving care of his family, especially Susan and Dave Jackson, Ernie and Lila Music, Linda and Darrell Thompson and his caregivers at Citrus Health and Rehab.

Mr. Music was born March 21, 1915, in Morgan County, Ky., a son of the late Leonard Music and Nettie Stacy Music. He was a beloved brother to the late Paul, Ray, Billy and Opal Dean Music.

During his tour of duty in the U.S. Navy during World War II, Mr. Music was stationed in Portsmouth, Va. and Portland, Maine. He was a radioman 1st class on the admiral's ship, the Alcor. After the war, Mr. Music returned to his job with the Ashland Oil and Refinery Co. He retired in 1977 after 40 plus years with the company. He had a successful career in refinery sales. His assignments included Cincinnati, Findlay, Ohio, Detroit, and Ashland, Ky., as a consultant and sales training specialist. During his time in Detroit, Mr. Music was the president of Detroit Oilmen's Association for several years.

Mr. Music and his wife of 60 years, Nancy were former members of the First Baptist Church in Ashland. They were married on Aug. 31, 1941, in that church by Dr. Long. During the 70's and 80's, they taught the young married couples Sunday School class. Mr. Music was a deacon, active in Men's Fellowship Visitation Program and was a member of the Pulpit Committee. He is currently a member of First Baptist Church of Inverness, Fla.

Mr. Music is survived by his devoted daughter, Linda Thompson and her husband, Darrell of Hernando; his son, Ernest W. Music Jr. and his wife, Lila of Novi, Mich.; his grandsons, Timothy P. Lofton and his wife, Holly of Springboro, Ohio, and Robert Lee Music and his wife, Andrea of Flagstaff, Ariz.; granddaughters, Crystal Thompson, Susan Jackson and her husband, Dave and sons, Nicholas and Phillip of Inverness, and Vicki Bullion and her husband, Jeff and daughter, Katie of Paris, Ky.; nieces, Lynnette Music Riddle and Suzanne Riddle; nephews, Jerry Paul Music and Bill Music and families; and sisters-in-law, Nina Thornbury Mock and Evelyn Music.

Ernie Music was a loving and devoted husband, father and friend to all who knew him. His broad smile brought sunshine to every day. His love of his Lord was evident in every part of his life. While living at Citrus Health and Rehab, he taught a weekly Bible study, did the morning announcements and spent a lot in the Activities Department. His life has been a blessing to all who knew him.

Services of remembrance will be conducted by the Rev. Ernest Music Jr. with a vocal presentation by Lynnette Music Riddle at 2 p.m Wednesday at Steen Funeral Home on 13th St. in Ashland with visitation from noon to 2 p.m.

Services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes in Inverness and at Steen Funeral Home in Ashland. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park beside his beloved wife, Nancy Thornbury Music.

Ernie Jr, Linda and Nina, Sharon and I have learned of Ernie Music's passing. To you, the other family members and Ernie's friends, we send our love and sympathy. Ernie was always supportive of me and my ministry in Ashland. He served as Chair of the Pastor Search Committee that invited me to First Baptist. I cherish all of my memories of him especially the great golf matches! God bless and comfort of all of you. Bill and Sharon Messer Columbia, SC
