Betty J. Chapman, 77, of Ashland, Ky., died Friday, July 8, 2005, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
Mrs. Chapman was born Oct. 5, 1927, in Boyd County, Ky., a daughter of the late Dewey D. and Tena Eliza Purvis McKenzie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Thomas McKenzie and Dewey McKenzie Jr.; and a sister, Lena Katherine McKenzie.
She was a former employee of Scotts Five & Ten Cent Store.
Surviving are a daughter, Brenda Rusche and her husband, Larry, of Temple Hill, Md.; a brother, Henry McKenzie; two sisters, Jean Akers and her husband, Fred, of Worthington, Ky., and Marilyn Unrue and her husband, Kenneth, of Bellefonte, Ky.; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2005, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Mike Rice. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
