Chester W. Douglas Jr., 84, of Ashland, Ky., died Thursday, July 14, 2005, in Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility.

Mr. Douglas was born Sept. 29, 1920, in Ashland, a son of the late Chester W. Sr. and Gladys Clark Douglas.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, John Douglas and Max Douglas; and a sister, Juanita Williams.

He was a retired welder with National Mine Service Co., was a World War II Army veteran, was a member of Unity Baptist Church, was a former member of Fred M. Gross Masonic Lodge and was a Kentucky colonel.

Surviving are his wife, Anna Lee Hammond Douglas of Ashland; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at noon Saturday at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Ed Talley and Dr. Steve Towler giving the eulogy. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at the funeral home.

Friends may make contributions to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
